Dexpan is also leading the way in the newest methods of quarrying. Whereas explosives were once the only viable option, Dexpan provides an attractive solution that produces minimum waste and maximises the amount of material available for resale. Yields have been found to increase from 40-45% to as much as 90% of usable rock when compared with the explosive method that destroys much of the rock.
This customer removes extremely valuable High Quality Blue Limestone for export to the USA and to Belgium.It is used for building stone, decorative counter tops and for street paving. Dexpan Holes were drilled 3 metres from the face and 1m was placed between the holes. Cracks started to appear after 3 hours and after 24 hours significant cracks had fully appeared and blocks were ready for removal. After 24 hours expanding, the results are clear. Dexpan cracked the rock to the exact shape required and needed no blasting to achieve it.
